GitBook

Documentation platform for product docs and knowledge bases.

Visit GitBook

GitBook is a hosted documentation and knowledge platform for teams that need to keep docs accurate as products change. It combines a visual editor with Git Sync, so content can be written directly or synced from a repository and reviewed through branching, pull-request-style workflows before publishing as a branded site.

Core capabilities include Git Sync, GitBook Agent for detecting stale content, an AI Assistant for reader questions, AI Insights for spotting where users and agents get stuck, and GitBook MCP, which connects AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to create, draft, edit, and restructure docs through change requests. Each published site also gets an MCP server so AI tools can read the documentation. Additional features include authenticated access, tiered roles and permissions, custom components, built-in extensions, and SAML SSO.

GitBook serves teams building public docs, API documentation, help centers, and knowledge bases, with enterprise options covering SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR compliance, migration support, and custom integrations. A free start option and demo or sales contact paths are available.
