Free Pascal

Open source compiler for Pascal and Object Pascal

Visit Free Pascal

Free Pascal is an open source compiler for Pascal and Object Pascal that targets a wide range of processor architectures and operating systems, including x86, AMD64, PowerPC, SPARC, ARM, AArch64, MIPS, Motorola 68k, AVR, and the JVM, with Windows, Linux, macOS, BSD, DOS, OS/2, Android, and embedded platforms among the supported targets. The development version adds support for RISC-V, Xtensa, Z80, WebAssembly, and the LLVM compiler infrastructure.

The compiler offers language compatibility with Turbo Pascal 7.0 and most versions of Delphi, covering classes, RTTI, exceptions, strings, and interfaces, along with a Mac Pascal mode and features such as function and operator overloading and global properties. The project also maintains pas2js, a transpiler from Pascal to JavaScript, and provides tools including FPCMake, H2Pas, PPDep, PPUDump, PPUMove, PtoP, RSTConv, and TPLY. Documentation, a wiki, forums, a bug tracker, and contributed units are available alongside the compiler.

Free Pascal is intended for developers writing Pascal or Object Pascal code across desktop, mobile, embedded, and retro platforms. It is distributed as open source under the GNU General Public License for the compiler and a modified Library GNU Public License for the packages and runtime library, with stable releases and development versions available for download.
