CodeLite
A free, open source, cross-platform IDE for C, C++, Rust, PHP and Node.js
CodeLite is a free, open source, cross-platform IDE for C, C++, Rust, PHP and Node.js, running on Linux, macOS, Windows and FreeBSD. It addresses the need for a single lightweight environment to write, build and debug code across these languages, with smart code completion, code navigation, a built-in debugger, Git integration and a plugin system.
It also works with AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Kiro CLI: classes, functions and files mentioned by the agent become clickable in the editor, opening them directly. The project is distributed under the GPLv2 license, with an exception allowing third-party plugins to remain closed source. Installers are available for Windows, Ubuntu, macOS and FreeBSD, and sources can be built from the provided instructions.
