Usertour is an open-source, self-hostable user onboarding platform that helps product teams build in-app product tours, checklists, surveys, banners, launchers, and resource centers. It solves the problem of creating and managing user onboarding flows without requiring code changes or relying on third-party data storage, as the core is MIT-licensed and can be deployed on the user's own infrastructure.
The platform includes a visual builder that points at any element in the application, supports targeting and segmentation based on user attributes and events, and provides built-in analytics for completion rates and drop-off per step. It integrates with analytics tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, Heap, PostHog, Segment, Zapier, and HubSpot, and offers a REST API and webhooks. A notable capability is its MCP server, which allows AI assistants like Claude Code or Cursor to create onboarding flows from natural language prompts, matching the app's design and wiring the SDK automatically.
Usertour is designed for developers and product teams of all sizes. It offers a free Hobby plan with 5,000 sessions per month, one team member, and community support, with paid Starter, Growth, and Business editions that increase session limits, team members, data retention, environments, and API rate limits. Self-hosting is available via Docker, and the hosted cloud version is billed monthly or yearly based on session usage.
