Website monitoring, simple and inexpensive
updown.io is an HTTP(S), TCP(S) and ICMP monitoring service that periodically checks URLs and reports anomalies such as downtime, bad responses, degraded performance and broken SSL certificates. It can also monitor periodic tasks and cron jobs, sending alerts through multiple channels and providing hosted status pages with uptime and performance metrics.
Features include five check types, dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 monitoring, check frequencies from 15 seconds to 1 hour, TLS/SSL testing, domain expiration alerts via RDAP/WHOIS, text search on response bodies, and downtime confirmation from at least two locations. Notification channels include email, webhooks, Slack, Teams, Telegram, SMS, status pages and Zapier. The service offers hosted single-site and multi-site status pages, a REST API and webhooks, and accepts credit cards, PayPal, SEPA transfers and cryptocurrencies.
updown.io is packaged as a usage-based credit system where one credit equals one check, with larger credit packs available upfront. New accounts receive 100,000 free credits to try the service. SMS alerts are billed separately per message. The product is an indie, bootstrapped service built by one person since 2012.
