Burner Note

Send notes that self-destruct when read

Visit Burner Note

Notes are encrypted client-side with a 256-bit AES-GCM key generated in the browser via the Web Crypto API. Only the encrypted ciphertext is sent to the server; the key is placed in the URL fragment, which per RFC 3986 is never sent to the server. A random 96-bit IV is generated per note and prepended to the ciphertext. A second layer of encryption at rest (Laravel AES-256-CBC with HMAC) protects against database leaks. When a note reaches its view limit, it is deleted synchronously from the database with no soft-delete or archive. The site states limitations: it cannot protect against a compromised device, malicious browser extensions, or someone manually copying decrypted text.
