Unwired Labs Location API is a geolocation platform for locating IoT and mobile devices without GPS. It uses WiFi access points, cell towers and IP addresses to determine device positions, with companion APIs for geocoding, mapping and timezone conversion. The platform is designed to work indoors and outdoors, and globally.
The platform includes LocationAPI for device positioning, Geocoding APIs for converting street addresses to coordinates and back, Maps for visualizing location data on web maps, and Timezone APIs for timezone conversion. Positioning accuracy varies by signal source: WiFi access points provide house-level positioning, cell towers provide street-level accuracy, and IP addresses provide city-level accuracy. The geocoding license allows stored data to be mapped and analyzed.
Unwired Labs offers a free Developer plan with limited requests, daily and monthly rate limits, email support, and no commercial use. A Business tier is priced per device and scales to millions of requests, with custom SLA and contracts available. A data partnership program offers API access in exchange for sharing anonymous data.
