Visit NLnet Labs

NLnet Labs is a non-profit foundation that develops free, liberally licensed open-source software for DNS and BGP routing. Its projects address the operation of core Internet infrastructure, including authoritative DNS, recursive resolution, DNSSEC signing, RPKI certificate management and BGP routing applications. The foundation also conducts applied research, contributes to standards development and provides professional support.

The software portfolio includes Unbound, a recursive DNS resolver; NSD, an authoritative DNS nameserver; Cascade, a DNSSEC signing solution; Krill, an RPKI Certificate Authority; Routinator, RPKI relying party software; and Rotonda, a BGP application platform. Additional DNS-related projects listed include dnsi, dnst, mimir, domain and ldns. NLnet Labs contributes to the IETF, including the DNS Operations Working Group, and engages with operator and engineering communities.

The foundation is funded through donations, support contracts and paid feature development from Internet industry organisations. It offers professional support alongside community support, with a published support policy. The software is free and open source; the pages do not describe paid editions, seat-based licensing or usage-based pricing.
