System Informer is a free, open source Windows utility for monitoring system resources, debugging software and investigating malware. It provides real-time graphs and statistics for CPU, memory, disk, GPU and network activity, with tooltips and drill-down views that let users inspect the process behind a data point, including processes that have already exited. It also helps identify which processes hold a file open, search handles and DLLs, and review active network connections.
Its feature set includes detailed system activity views with customizable columns, real-time disk access and usage monitoring, network adapter statistics, GPU usage graphs, and stack trace viewing with kernel-mode, WOW64 and .NET support. It extends beyond the built-in services manager by listing driver services alongside user-mode services and allowing service creation, editing and control. The interface supports light and dark themes with modern icon options.
The project is written in C, released under the MIT license, and targets advanced end users and developers. It is available as a free download, with source code published on GitHub and SourceForge.
