GKrellM

A single process stack of system monitors with themeable appearance.

Visit GKrellM

GKrellM is a free, open-source desktop system monitor that runs as a single process stacking multiple monitors together, reducing system load while keeping system metrics visible in one place. It supports themes so its appearance can match a window manager, Gtk, or other theme.

Built-in monitors cover hostname, clock and calendar, SMP CPU, temperature, fan and voltage sensors, processes, disk, network interfaces, internet port connections, memory and swap, file systems, mailboxes, battery, and uptime. Charts support auto or fixed scaling, labels can run configured commands, and each sensor monitor has configurable alarm and warning thresholds. GKrellM can run in client mode, collecting data from a gkrellmd server on a remote machine; both the client and server are plugin capable. Mail checking supports mbox, maildir, MH, POP3, and IMAP.

GKrellM requires Gtk+ 2.24 or newer, while gkrellmd requires only GLib 2.32 and can run on systems without Gtk+ or X11. It is released under the GNU General Public License and is available through Linux and BSD distribution packages, Homebrew, MacPorts, a Windows installer, and source code.
