SeedDMS is a free and open source document management system with a web-based user interface, intended for storing and sharing documents such as invoices, documentation, learning materials, emails and photos. It keeps all document versions and organizes content in a hierarchical folder structure, with user and group management, access control lists, fine-grained notifications, and workflows for review, approval and revision.

It supports SQLite3, MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL, runs on Linux, MacOS and Windows, and includes full-text search, WebDAV access, a REST API, automatic tasks, Prometheus metrics, multi-language support, and conversion of documents to PDF, PNG and TXT. Extensions add integrations with Collabora Office, OnlyOffice, Tesseract (OCR), Tika, Etherpad, HedgeDoc and Paperless-ngx, along with virus scanning, passkey authentication, watermarking, email import, and notifications to XMPP, Matrix, ntfy and Gotify. Docker images are available.

SeedDMS is described as suitable for small and medium sized enterprises as well as private document storage, and can be self-hosted on public or private servers. It is free and open source with no stated restrictions on users or documents; a demo installation and a temporary instance via Play with Docker are offered for evaluation.
