QuickFile

QuickFile is a UK-based cloud accounting platform for small and medium-sized businesses, freelancers, landlords and self-employed users. It brings invoicing, purchases, banking, VAT and reporting into one system, with support for Making Tax Digital for VAT and Income Tax and Self Assessment. The platform is browser-based, with no software to install, and includes a mobile app for capturing receipts on iOS and Android.

Core features include fully customisable invoices, a branded client portal, estimates, purchase orders and delivery notes, automated bank feeds with Open Banking support, and online payments through providers such as Stripe, PayPal, GoCardless and Square. VAT returns can be filed directly to HMRC, and the system supports Standard and Flat Rate VAT on cash or accrual bases. Multi-currency sales, purchases and bank accounts are included, along with a Receipt Hub, document storage, reporting tools, projects, custom charts and a documented API for integrations. Direct integrations cover Companies House, HMRC, Dropbox and others, with additional connections available through Zapier. Security features include two-factor authentication and scheduled backups.

QuickFile is free while an account's 12-month nominal ledger count remains under 1,000 entries. Paid tiers are based on ledger entry volume, with a Professional plan covering up to 4,000 entries and additional Power User features available as an optional subscription. Automated bank feeds and extra file storage are charged separately, and accounts exceeding 40,000 entries over a rolling 12-month period require an enterprise plan. All plans include unlimited users, API access, multi-currency support and free updates. Accountants and bookkeepers can use QuickFile Affinity to manage multiple clients on a single branded portal, with volume discounts available.
