OpenZiti is an open-source zero trust overlay network that replaces IP-based connectivity with cryptographically verifiable identities. Services are unreachable by default: connections dial outbound and authenticate before connecting, leaving no open inbound ports. It supports three zero trust models — ZTAA (Zero Trust Application Access), ZTHA (Zero Trust Host Access), and ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access) — allowing organizations to adopt zero trust incrementally.

Core capabilities include identity-aware access with posture checking, end-to-end encryption, private DNS, smart routing through the OpenZiti Fabric, and single-port transport to prevent port scanning. Integration is handled through OpenZiti SDKs embedded in applications or through an OpenZiti Tunneler for existing apps without code changes, alongside an OpenZiti Router for ZTNA deployments. Solution areas cover microsegmentation, vulnerability cloaking, site-to-site connectivity, OT and IoT connectivity, API security, and AI access governance.

OpenZiti can be deployed as community self-hosted with documentation and community support, self-hosted with NetFoundry support for regulated environments, or as NetFoundry's managed SaaS with SLAs and 24/7 support. Release channels include Active LTS and Maintenance LTS versions.
