Nim
Efficient, expressive, elegant systems programming language
Nim is a statically typed compiled systems programming language that combines concepts from Python, Ada and Modula. It generates native dependency-free executables that do not rely on a virtual machine, making them small and easy to redistribute across Windows, Linux, BSD and macOS. Its memory management is deterministic and customizable with destructors and move semantics, and it is suited to embedded and hard-realtime systems.
The compiler targets C, C++ and JavaScript backends, supporting both backend and frontend work. It offers a macro system for AST manipulation, generics, templates, and compile-time evaluation, along with a type system featuring local type inference, tuples, generics and sum types. The standard library implements async/await, and Nim includes first-class JavaScript compilation for client and server. Interoperability with C, C++ and Objective-C libraries is supported, and the Nimble package manager handles decentralized package distribution via Git and Mercurial repositories. The compiler and standard library are implemented in Nim itself.
Nim is open source under the MIT license and is developed by a volunteer community. It is available for download at no cost, with documentation, a forum, and community channels including Discord, Gitter, Matrix, IRC, Telegram and StackOverflow.
