NeoOffice

An old fork of LibreOffice

Visit NeoOffice

NeoOffice was a Mac office suite based on older versions of OpenOffice and LibreOffice, designed to let users view, edit and save documents created in those applications. It began in 2003, when two engineers made OpenOffice run natively on OS X, and the project continued adding Mac-specific improvements over nearly 20 years. The project is no longer active, and its source code and downloads remain available on GitHub.

Its Mac-focused features included native tabs, native full-screen mode, and a launch setting that could open Calc or Impress instead of Writer. A Browse All Versions menu restored previous document versions, while native file locking supported editing files in iCloud Drive, Dropbox and network drives. Other capabilities included native Mac grammar checking, text highlighting, support for Mac Services and floating tool windows. The pages do not describe a free plan, trial, editions or pricing.
