Apache OpenOffice

The Free and Open Productivity Suite

Visit Apache OpenOffice

Apache OpenOffice is a free and open-source office suite developed by volunteers under the Apache Software Foundation. It provides a set of productivity applications compatible with other major office suites, using OASIS OpenDocument Format (ISO/IEC 26300) as its native file format and reading most file types from competing products.

The suite includes Writer for word processing, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for multimedia presentations, Draw for diagrams and 3D illustrations, Base for databases (tables, forms, queries, and reports), and Math for creating mathematical equations through a graphical interface or equation editor. Additional functionality, templates, and clipart can be added through extensions.

Apache OpenOffice is intended for private, educational, government, public administration, and commercial use. It is available as a free download with no license fees, can be installed on any number of machines, and copies may be distributed at no cost. The current release is Apache OpenOffice 4.1.16.
