Visit MythTV

MythTV is a free, open source digital video recorder (DVR) distributed under the GNU GPL. It provides the recording and playback features typically expected of a DVR, along with additional capabilities. The project has been in development since 2002, with regular numbered releases; the current release is 36.0.

The project offers documentation, a wiki, forums, and bug reporting through its support channels, with release notes published for each version. MythTV is packaged as open source software under the GNU GPL, with no paid editions, trials, or seat-based or usage-based plans indicated. It is aimed at users who want to run their own DVR software rather than subscribe to a hosted service.
