Meld

Visual diff and merge tool

Visit Meld

Meld is a visual diff and merge tool for comparing files, directories, and version-controlled projects. It provides two- and three-way comparison of files and directories, helping users review code changes and understand patches. It supports Git, Mercurial, Bazaar, and Subversion, with tool integration such as git mergetool.

Key features include live comparison updates while editing and merging files, navigation between changes, simple text filtering to ignore irrelevant differences, and three-way merge assistance with conflict handling and base version display. Folder comparison identifies missing or modified files, supports drilling down into detailed file comparisons, and allows ignoring specific files or folders. Version control features include checking changes, committing, pushing, and viewing or managing version control states.

Meld is packaged for most Linux/Unix distributions and is available on Flathub, with source installation instructions provided. Windows users can download an installer. macOS is not yet supported, though semi-official builds are available through Homebrew, MacPorts, or Fink. The current stable release is 3.24.0. The project is licensed under GPLv2 or later, except as noted.
