jcode

An open source terminal coding agent, written in Rust

Visit jcode

jcode is an open-source AI coding agent that runs in the terminal, written in Rust and installed with a single command. It is designed to let developers run many coding sessions in parallel, with durable memory, background tasks, and agent swarms handling work concurrently rather than sequentially.

The agent supports inline image rendering, LaTeX rendering, info widgets, structured edit blocks, links that work in the terminal, batch tool execution, and swarm file conflict notifications. It includes a todo tool with confidence stepping, where the agent rates confidence per task item and is prompted to re-check work when confidence jumps sharply. It also ships its own benchmark suite, jcode bench v1, with tasks scored on optimization depth rather than pass/fail. The software is MIT licensed and runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows (beta).

jcode is aimed at developers who want to orchestrate multiple coding agents at once. The core software is free with no feature gates, using your own API keys, supported OAuth subscriptions, or local models via Ollama or LM Studio. Optional hosted inference is available through monthly subscription plans that include inference credit and Jcode Cloud machine hours, with usage beyond the credit billed at provider API prices. Enterprise plans cover centralized billing, deployment guidance, security review, and priority support.
