Visit HylaFAX

HylaFAX is a client-server fax system for UNIX that handles sending and receiving facsimiles as well as alpha-numeric paging. Fax modems can sit on a single machine on a network while clients submit outbound jobs from any machine that can reach it, with imaging either offloaded to the server or performed on the client. The server is built to handle multiple modems and sustained traffic, and includes access control for which users and machines may reach it.

Core capabilities include polled retrieval, automatic cover page generation, a text-based phonebook, broadcast faxing with modem scheduling, off-peak job scheduling by destination number, and a faxstat queue monitor. Incoming faxes are stored as TIFF/F files and can be delivered by mail or printed. Clients and servers communicate through the HylaFAX Client-Server Protocol and SNPP (RFC 1861). The product line includes HylaFAX Community Edition and HylaFAX Enterprise, alongside desktop and mobile client software, connectors for systems such as SAP and Asterisk, web-based faxing tools, third-party APIs, FoIP services, and fax image viewers. HylaFAX is available in source form under copyright and may be used in commercial applications without charge.
