Munin

Networked resource monitoring tool for analyzing resource trends and performance problems

Visit Munin

Munin is a networked resource monitoring tool that surveys computers, stores collected data in RRD files, and presents it through a web interface. It uses a master/node architecture in which the master polls nodes at regular intervals, then updates graphs as needed. The tool is designed to support plug-and-play installation, with a default setup producing a large number of graphs with minimal configuration. It can monitor computer performance, networks, SANs, applications, and other measurements, helping identify changes in resource use and capacity trends.

Munin is built on RRDTool and a Perl framework, while plugins can be written in any language. It includes a large plugin library, a contrib repository of user-contributed plugins, and support for custom plugins. The homepage describes polling every five minutes and real-time alerts, along with documentation, a plugin gallery, a demo server, and GitHub-hosted source code. Munin is open source and is available through packages, tarballs, or source installation. The pages do not describe paid editions, seat-based licensing, or usage-based pricing.
