Currency API for live and historical exchange rates.
CurrencyAPI is a JSON API that returns current and historical exchange rates for 171 fiat currencies, 16 cryptocurrencies and 4 precious metals against any base currency, along with conversion of any amount. It addresses the need for exchange rate data in applications, dashboards and reporting workflows, with historical data available back to 1999. Authentication uses an API key sent in a header or query parameter over HTTPS.
The API includes the /v3/latest endpoint for current rates, /v3/historical for a single past day, /v3/range for a span of days (with CSV output), and /v3/currencies to list supported currencies with symbols and decimals. Rates update daily on the free plan, hourly on the Small plan and every 60 seconds from the Medium plan. Use cases include local-currency pricing, accounting and reporting, and feeding rates into BI tools, Google Sheets or Excel. Free tools include a currency converter, historical converter, bulk converter and converter widget.
The free plan covers 300 requests per month with latest and historical rates updated daily, for private use. Paid plans add commercial use, more requests and faster refresh rates, with monthly or yearly billing available.
