Bench is an online bookkeeping service for U.S.-based businesses that pairs each customer with a dedicated bookkeeper and proprietary software. It handles monthly bookkeeping, catch-up work for businesses behind on their records, and tax filing with year-round advisory. It also offers fractional QuickBooks bookkeeping for companies that want an expert working inside an existing QuickBooks Online account. Bench operates as an Employer.com company and uses read-only connections to financial accounts, with data encrypted in transit and at rest.

Core capabilities include monthly reconciliation, year-end financial packages, unlimited access to a bookkeeper by phone, message, or video call, and end-to-end business tax filing by licensed tax professionals. The platform integrates with Plaid for account connections and supports QuickBooks Online natively. Bench also provides AI Assistants running on closed, isolated models, and its security program includes SOC 2 Type 2 examinations, background checks for employees, and role-based access controls.

Bench serves small and growing businesses across many industries, from solopreneurs to established companies. Packaging is subscription-based: monthly bookkeeping plans, a lower-cost tier for micro businesses under a revenue threshold, annual plans with a discount, and a standalone tax service. Catch-up bookkeeping is included at no extra cost with an annual plan, while businesses more than a year behind receive a custom quote. Fractional bookkeeping is priced hourly with a one-time onboarding fee.
