W

A lightweight CMS wiki tool meant to help you design a surprising website.

Visit W

W is a lightweight wiki engine written in PHP and licensed under AGPLv3, using a flat-file database. It sits between a website editor and a note-taking tool, supporting quick page edits with Markdown, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with per-page styling. It is designed for multi-user editing and works without JavaScript.

Features include a media manager with image encoder, comment system, URL checker, map integration via Leaflet and OpenStreetMap, a page graph built with Cytoscape.js, RSS (Atom) feed, LDAP authentication, multiple interface themes, and a CLI synchronization client called Wsync. It runs on Apache or Nginx with PHP 7.4 or later.

W is aimed at editors building small, heterogeneous web spaces rather than large projects; the documentation notes it is not recommended for sites with more than 1000 pages or multi-language websites. It is open source and self-hosted, installed manually from a release archive or via Git with Composer and npm, with no paid editions or hosted plans described.
