TotalFinder is a macOS add-on that extends the standard Finder with tabs, a dual panel mode, colored labels, and other enhancements. It is installed as a standalone application that injects code into the running Finder process rather than replacing Finder files on disk, so Finder can be returned to its stock state by restarting it without relaunching TotalFinder.
Features include Chrome-style tabs, a dual mode that shows two Finder windows side-by-side via a hot-key, a Visor window, colored labels, folders on top, context menu additions, cut and paste shortcuts, and an option to show system files. It works with macOS 13, 12, 11, and 10.15; System Integrity Protection must remain weakened while it is in use, and Apple Silicon compatibility must be manually enabled. The current download is v1.15.1, with older versions available. The pages do not state a free plan, trial, or edition structure.
