Tabbles

Organize your files using tags

Visit Tabbles

Tabbles is a tagging application for individuals and teams that organizes files outside of a fixed folder structure. Tagging data is stored in a database rather than in file names, so files can be associated with multiple concepts at once without being copied or moved. Tagging follows files when they are renamed, moved, or deleted in Windows Explorer.

Features include auto-tagging rules based on file path, name, content, or regular expressions, searchable comments on files, bookmarks, and Outlook emails, and unified search across file names, paths, tags, comments, and content. Tabbles integrates with Windows Explorer through context menus and overlay icons, supports tagging on local disks, network drives, USB media, and synchronized cloud storage such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and SharePoint, and offers file previews for common graphic formats and PDFs. Teams can share tagging with granular user and group permissions, and the platform supports SQL scripts, XML import/export, and a .NET API for plugins. The client runs on Windows and stores data in a Microsoft SQL database, with Azure SQL support.

Tabbles is aimed at both single users and teams, including organizations managing documents on shared drives or cloud storage. It is available as a Windows desktop application installed via .exe or .msi, with mass deployment through Group Policies and user import from Active Directory. A Cloud mode allows tagging to be synchronized across multiple PCs.
