Supervisor

A client/server system for monitoring and controlling processes on UNIX-like operating.

Visit Supervisor

Supervisor is a client/server process control system for UNIX-like operating systems. It starts and monitors processes as its own subprocesses, so it can report accurate up/down status, restart crashed processes, and manage related processes in groups with priority ordering. It is intended for controlling project- or customer-related processes rather than replacing init as process id 1.

Supervisor consists of the supervisord server, the supervisorctl command-line client, a browser-based web interface, and an XML-RPC interface for programmatic control. Configuration uses an INI-style file with sections for programs, groups, FastCGI programs, event listeners, and RPC interfaces. It supports automatic restart, log rotation, subprocess logging, event notifications, and authentication for remote control. It runs on Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris, and FreeBSD, and is written in Python.

Supervisor is aimed at administrators and developers who need centralized process management without granting full shell or root access. It is distributed as open-source software with no paid editions, free plans, trials, or usage-based pricing described.
