Protocol Labs
Protocol Labs drives breakthroughs in computing to push humanity forward
Protocol Labs is an innovation network that connects startups, investment funds, accelerators, foundations, open source projects, and service providers working across computing frontiers including web3, AI, AR, VR, brain-computer interfaces, and hardware. Originally formed as the team behind IPFS, Filecoin, and libp2p, it continues to support those projects while expanding into additional emerging technologies. The network is structured to help organizations collaborate on shared problems, exchange knowledge and resources, and accelerate research and development.
Its work is organized around several focus areas: digital human rights through Web3, economies and governance using crypto and AI, AI and robotics infrastructure, and neurotechnology covering brain-computer interfaces, NeuroAI, and whole brain emulation. The network operates through PL R&D, which funds pre-commercial invention; PL Capital, which invests in venture-scale ideas; and PL Platform, which provides tools and connective tissue. The progression spans early research and invention, development, venture formation, productization, and scaling.
Protocol Labs is aimed at organizations and contributors building in these technology areas, with participation open through a Join pathway. The pages do not describe a free plan, trial, or seat-based packaging.
