Posteo

Posteo is an independent email provider based in Berlin, founded in 2009. A single account bundles email, a calendar, an address book and notes, with encryption applied per mailbox. The service is financed entirely by user fees and states it collects no personal data, uses no tracking and runs on green energy. Servers are hosted in Frankfurt data centres and run exclusively on open source.

The email account includes a webmail interface, a web app, IMAP and POP3 support, spam and virus filtering, alias addresses, custom filters, and a migration service for transferring mailboxes from other providers. Calendars sync via CalDAV and can be shared or encrypted; contacts sync via CardDAV. Encryption options include PGP and S/MIME inbound encryption, crypto mail storage, two-factor authentication (TOTP), and one-click encryption of calendars, address books and notes.

Posteo is aimed at individuals seeking a private, ad-free email account. It is packaged as a single paid plan with a fixed monthly fee, including 4 GB of storage that can be increased up to 75 GB for an additional per-gigabyte charge. Alias addresses beyond the three included can be added for a monthly fee per alias. Support is included at no extra cost.
