Photon is an open-source framework for connecting AI agents to messaging channels people already use, including iMessage, WhatsApp, SMS/RCS, Telegram, Discord, and Slack. It handles sending and receiving messages, routing, and fallback between channels so an agent can stay reachable when a preferred channel is unavailable.
Core capabilities include direct and group messaging, attachments, reactions, replies, typing indicators, contact cards, voice notes, location sharing, polls, and conversation backgrounds on iMessage. The Spectrum layer provides adaptive content rendering, audit logs, message histories, and human-in-the-loop controls, with an Omni plugin for moving between iMessage and voice. Mini Apps and App Clips let agents deliver interactive UI inside threads, and SIP integration supports existing voice infrastructure.
Photon is aimed at developers and teams building agents for support, assistants, companions, healthcare, real estate, and travel.
