Parted Magic

A bootable disk utility since 2004

Visit Parted Magic

Parted Magic is a bootable disk management environment that runs from a USB stick, optical disc, or PXE network server, operating entirely in memory so the host operating system is left untouched. It addresses secure drive erasure, partition management, disk cloning, and data recovery on machines that may not have a working OS.

The environment includes VisParted for resizing, moving, creating, and copying partitions across MBR and GPT layouts, with support for ext2/3/4, NTFS, FAT16/32, exFAT, Btrfs, XFS, linux-swap, LVM2, and LUKS volumes. Secure erase operations follow NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2 Purge standards across ATA, NVMe, eMMC, and TCG Opal media, generating a signed PDF certificate of destruction for each drive. Cloning and recovery are handled through Parted Magic Clonezilla, ddrescue, TestDisk, and PhotoRec, with targets including local disks, USB, SSH, Samba, NFS, and multicast deployment. The environment boots on UEFI Secure Boot systems and supports SATA, NVMe, SAS/SCSI, IDE, USB, and eMMC storage.

Parted Magic is aimed at IT professionals, system administrators, and home users performing tasks such as asset disposal sanitization, workstation rollout, partition resizing, and drive migration. A single license covers unlimited drives, disks, and machines with no per-seat or per-drive fees.
