TurnKey GNU/Linux

Nearly 90 free ready-to-use system images for virtual machines, the cloud and bare metal

Visit TurnKey GNU/Linux

TurnKey GNU/Linux is a collection of ready-to-run Debian-based system images, called appliances, that bundle an operating system, an application, and secure defaults into a single deployable package. It addresses the setup work involved in standing up server software by providing preconfigured images for virtual machines, cloud platforms, and bare metal, with encryption, trusted certificates, and automatic security updates configured by default.

The app library spans categories including content management, web development, databases, CRM, ERP, project management, messaging, monitoring, VPN, and file storage, with appliances such as LAMP Stack, WordPress, GitLab, Nextcloud, Odoo, Mattermost, and OpenVPN. Appliances can be deployed across self-hosted virtualization, containers, and cloud platforms, and source code is available for inspection and modification with modern tooling. The TurnKey Hub companion service runs in the browser and handles launching, encrypted backups, migration, and recovery for servers deployed to Amazon EC2, with a live demo available.

TurnKey GNU/Linux is aimed at users who want to self-host applications on their own infrastructure while retaining control over the underlying system. The appliances are free and open source; the TurnKey Hub is offered as a separate service for cloud deployment and management.
