OpenSpec
A lightweight and configurable spec framework for creating and managing software specs
OpenSpec is a lightweight, configurable framework for creating and managing software specifications. It lets teams capture what they want to build in a spec and keep people and coding agents aligned as work evolves, supporting refinement of requirements, validation that they describe the right thing, and verification that the implementation matches the spec.
It provides a workflow of commands including /opsx:explore for mapping the problem and understanding the codebase, /opsx:propose for drafting a proposal, specs, design, and tasks, /opsx:apply for implementing tasks from the specification, /opsx:verify for checking the implementation against the spec, and /opsx:archive for archiving completed changes. It installs via npm, pnpm, bun, yarn, or nix and is compatible with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, and others. OpenSpec is open source under the MIT license.
