OpenFaaS
Serverless Functions Made Simple with Kubernetes
OpenFaaS is a serverless platform for running functions on Kubernetes, allowing teams to deploy code as portable OCI images to any cluster, on-premises or in the cloud. It addresses the need to run functions and existing microservices with autoscaling, event triggers, and monitoring without managing Kubernetes infrastructure directly.
The platform supports functions written in multiple languages using templates, including Node.js, Python, Go, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, and Dockerfile-based builds. Existing microservices built with frameworks such as Express.js, Flask, FastAPI, Django, or ASP.NET Core can be deployed as-is. Functions can be triggered by events from Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, GCP Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Cron, and MQTT. Pro features include autoscaling, event connectors, monitoring dashboards, SSO, and RBAC.
OpenFaaS is packaged in three tiers: Community Edition for personal use and experimentation, Standard for a single team or tenant, and OpenFaaS for Enterprises for multi-tenant hosting and larger organizations. A free trial is available for Standard, subject to approval.
