lighttpd is an open source web server designed to run efficiently on memory and CPU, with lower resource use than other popular web servers. It supports FastCGI, CGI, Auth, Output-Compression, and URL-Rewriting, and is released under the revised BSD license.

The server includes modules such as mod_deflate, mod_sockproxy, mod_proxy, mod_openssl, and mod_magnet, with support for HTTP/2, TLS (including TLSv1.3 defaults and X25519MLKEM768), request trailers, and systemd service integration. Documentation, wiki, forum, and issue tracker are hosted on redmine.lighttpd.net.

lighttpd is intended for systems of all sizes, from small to large deployments. It is available as source tarballs (tar.gz and tar.xz) with GPG signatures and checksums, with releases distributed under the open source revised BSD license.
