Store checklists and notes as Markdown files in a folder you own.

Visit jotty·page

Jotty is a self-hosted application for checklists and notes, storing everything as Markdown files in a folder on your server rather than in a database. It covers simple checklists as well as Kanban projects with custom statuses, categories, progress bars, drag and drop, a calendar view for due dates, and a time tracker. Notes are edited in a rich text editor with Markdown underneath, powered by TipTap, and support tags, code blocks with syntax highlighting, callouts, and GitHub Flavoured Markdown.

Notes and checklists can be connected through wikilinks or @mentions, with links working in both directions; a 3D map visualizes these connections and suggests links that may be missing. Encryption is available per note using XChaCha20-Poly1305 with a passphrase or PGP keys. Sharing works with other users on the instance or via public links, with admin controls for accounts, sessions, and audit logs. Authentication supports OIDC providers, LDAP, and MFA, alongside a REST API with an OpenAPI spec and an optional MCP server for AI clients. It runs as a Docker container, with Proxmox VE helper scripts and an Unraid template also available, and can be installed as a PWA. The project is open source, with a live demo and a tour available.
