JOSM

An extensible editor for OpenStreetMap written in Java 11+

Visit JOSM

JOSM is an extensible, open source editor for OpenStreetMap data, written in Java 11+ and licensed under the GPL. It addresses the need to load and edit OSM data from local and online sources, including GPX tracks and background imagery, while working with nodes, ways, relations, and their metadata tags.

The editor supports extensions through plugins, presets for predefined tags, rules for checking and fixing invalid data, styles for changing the map view appearance, and backgrounds for tracing OSM data such as aerial imagery. It is available as a Java Web Start launch file, a tested JAR, Windows installers, a macOS app, Homebrew, and an Ubuntu/Debian repository, with a development version also offered. An in-application help system is accessible via the F1 key or Help button, and the project maintains a wiki, bug tracker, and community support channels.

JOSM is intended for OpenStreetMap contributors and developers who need a desktop editing environment with extensible functionality. It is distributed as free, open source software under the GPL, with no paid editions, trials, or seat-based or usage-based pricing described.
