ezIX

An attempt to build a usable UNIX system for desktop and personal users.

Visit ezIX

ezIX is a long-running project to build a usable UNIX system for desktop and personal users. It is based on the Linux kernel, GNU libc and tools, and draws on ideas from Linux distributions such as RedHat, Mandrake/Mandriva, Conectiva and Debian, commercial UNIX flavours like HP-UX and Solaris, and MacOS, Mac OS X and Windows. The project has been a work in progress since August 2002.

The project site lists a range of software components, including DAIR, Log, Hardware Lister, Calcul, Let The Sun Shine, FollowMe, Pukcab and μStash. The site itself runs on Trac, a web-based software project management and bug/issue tracking system with an integrated wiki, version control integration and event tracking, distributed under the modified BSD License.

No pricing, plan or packaging details are stated for ezIX.
