Embedly is a developer platform that turns URLs into responsive embeds, extracts article text and structured metadata, and optimizes images for delivery. It addresses the need to integrate media and link content from many providers without maintaining custom code for each one. The platform supports content from thousands of providers.
The Embedly API includes three modules: Embed for responsive embeds in websites and applications, Extract for retrieving article text, images, and metadata, and Display for resizing, cropping, blurring, and delivering images in WebP or AVIF. A JavaScript SDK and native embeds are available. Cards is a browser-based, no-code tool for creating responsive link previews.
Embedly is aimed at developers and publishers building custom integrations, as well as small publishers and site owners who prefer a no-code option. The API plan bundles Embed, Extract, Display, and Cards, with metered usage-based pricing beyond base monthly quotas and a rate limit of 50 URL requests per second. Cards is also available as a standalone subscription. Enterprise accounts can be arranged by contact.
