Chocolatey Software

The package manager for Windows

Visit Chocolatey Software

Chocolatey is a package manager and software management automation tool for Windows. It wraps installers, executables, zips, and scripts into compiled packages, allowing administrators to install, update, and manage software across Windows machines through a single interface and command set.

The open source edition includes package creation, a hostable package repository, integration with other tools, package shims, bulk software upgrades via a single command, built-in PowerShell functions, and package extensions. The Pro edition adds Package Reducer, Package Throttle, runtime malware protection, and a download CDN cache. Chocolatey for Business (C4B) adds Central Management, a web-based management console with reporting, Self-Service Installer, Package Synchronizer, Package Internalizer, Package Audit, Package Builder, and support. Integrations are available through custom integrations or PowerShell and batch scripts.

Open source is free with no machine limit and is available for organizations. Pro is a personal named license for individual use on up to eight personal machines and is not permitted for organizational use. C4B is licensed per node on an annual subscription or perpetual basis, with volume-based tiers and special pricing for education and non-profit organizations; a free evaluation trial is available.
