Bitwig Studio is a digital audio workstation for music production, sound design, composition, and performance. It supports both linear arrangement and non-linear clip-based workflows, letting users move between timeline editing and improvisation within the same project. The software runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The application includes over 140 instruments and effects, more than 20GB of sound content, and a modular design centered on The Grid, a sound-design environment for building custom tools. A universal modulation system lets users connect parameters across devices. Features include a clip launcher, timeline arrangement, hardware integration, sandboxed plug-ins, and a Sampler with slicing and time-stretching. Bitwig also contributes to open standards including CLAP, DAWproject, and an Open Controller Extension API.
Bitwig Studio is aimed at musicians, sound designers, composers, film scorers, and producers. A 30-day trial is available without limitations. The company also offers Bitwig Connect, a hardware audio/MIDI interface with monitor and DAW-control functions.
