Visit Audacity

Audacity is a free, open source audio recording and editing application for Windows, macOS and Linux. It handles cutting, trimming, splitting, reversing, copying and pasting audio, along with effects such as reverb, distortion, compression, delay, echo, noise reduction, and speed and pitch changes. It supports importing, exporting and converting major audio formats, and offers spectrogram and Vamp analyzer views for frequency analysis.

Third-party plugin support includes VST3 and Nyquist. Local AI features include Whisper-based transcription and AI-powered vocal removal, both run without uploads or subscriptions. The online companion Audio.com provides project collaboration, versioned backups, and sharing and publishing. MuseHub distributes Audacity along with additional plugins such as MuseFX and the Soap Voice Clean & Capture Bundle.

Audacity is aimed at anyone working with sound, including music production, podcasting, and general audio editing. The application is free and open source; no paid editions, trials, or seat-based or usage-based packaging are stated.
