Apache Geronimo

Open source Java EE / Jakarta EE libraries and MicroProfile implementations

Visit Apache Geronimo

Apache Geronimo is an Apache Software Foundation project that provides open source Java EE and Jakarta EE libraries, along with MicroProfile implementations. It focuses on reusable components for Java server applications, with OSGi bundle metadata included in the implementations. The project also hosts related efforts such as XBean, a plugin-based server framework supporting multiple IoC systems, JMX, lifecycle and class loader management, and Spring integration.

The project includes MicroProfile implementations for Config, Fault Tolerance (Safeguard), JWT Auth, OpenTracing, Health Metrics, and OpenAPI, plus extensions that add production and cloud-ready features. It also provides μ~ (utilda), a Maven pom combining Apache Meecrowave and an aggregator pom for a MicroProfile 2.0 server. Other projects include Arthur, a GraalVM-based effort for building native Java binaries with API, SPI, Implementation, Maven Plugin, and Knights modules, and Apache BatchEE, an implementation of JBatch (JSR-352) with extensions for Beanio, Camel, Commons-csv, Groovy, Hazelcast, Jackson, and others, along with a web UI, REST and CLI access, and Maven plugins. The Geronimo Application Server is no longer actively maintained; Apache TomEE is suggested as a replacement. The project is available under the Apache v2 license.
