Apache CloudStack — Infrastructure for Virtual Machines and Bare Metal
Apache CloudStack is open-source, Java-based software from the Apache Software Foundation for deploying and managing large networks of virtual machines as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud. It addresses the need to orchestrate compute, networking, storage, and user management across distributed data centers, supporting both public and private cloud deployments as well as hybrid setups. It is hypervisor agnostic, working with KVM, VMware, Citrix XenServer, XCP-ng, and Hyper-V.
The platform includes compute orchestration, Network-as-a-Service, user and account management, resource accounting, a web UI, command line tools, and a RESTful API compatible with Amazon EC2 and S3. Additional capabilities include OAuth2 and SAML/LDAP authentication with two-factor support, snapshot and template management, virtual routers, firewalls, and load balancers, usage metering, webhooks, and integrations for backup, monitoring, storage, and Kubernetes cluster management through CAPC and CKS.
CloudStack is aimed at service providers, managed service providers, telcos, and enterprises building public, private, or hybrid clouds. It is released under the Apache License 2.0 as open-source software, with no paid editions, trials, or seat-based plans indicated.
