Apache Cassandra

Open-source NoSQL database for large-scale data.

Visit Apache Cassandra

Apache Cassandra is a free, open source distributed NoSQL database designed for large, active data sets that require high availability and linear scalability. Data is distributed across clusters of identical nodes, with no single point of failure, and can be replicated across multiple data centers to withstand regional outages. It is an Apache Software Foundation project released under the Apache License 2.0.

Cassandra 5.0 includes features such as audit logging for DML, DDL, and DCL activity, the fqltool for capturing and replaying production workloads, and Accord transactions. It supports synchronous or asynchronous replication per update, Hinted Handoff, Read Repair, and Zero Copy Streaming for faster data movement during scaling operations. The project integrates with third-party tools and services through its ecosystem, and supports deployment on commodity hardware, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and on-premises environments.

Cassandra is intended for applications that cannot afford data loss, including mission-critical workloads requiring fault tolerance and elastic scaling. It is available as a free, open source project under the Apache License 2.0, with no commercial editions or paid plans described.
