Visit Apache AsterixDB

Apache AsterixDB is an open source Big Data Management System for storing, indexing, and managing semi-structured data. It uses a NoSQL-style data model (ADM) that extends JSON with object database concepts, paired with a declarative query language (AQL) for querying semi-structured data. Unlike analytics engines that scan data sets for each query, AsterixDB stores and manages data itself, allowing queries to use knowledge of data partitioning and available indexes.

The system provides distributed storage and transaction capabilities, fast data ingestion, and scalable, data-parallel query execution through Apache Hyracks. It supports LSM-based storage for managed datasets, external datasets such as data on HDFS, and secondary indexes for both storage options. Indexing options include B+ trees, R trees, and inverted keyword indexes. AsterixDB also supports spatial, temporal, and textual data types, along with basic transactional concurrency and recovery capabilities.

AsterixDB is aimed at developers and data engineers working with large-scale semi-structured data. It is available as open source software under the Apache Software License 2.0, with documentation, installation guides, and community support through mailing lists and IRC.
