Allowance is an AI payments service that gives AI agents limited spending power through temporary, rule-bound payment credentials instead of a real credit card number. It addresses the risk of sharing card details with assistants that book travel, reorder essentials, buy tickets, or complete online checkout, replacing ad hoc workarounds with a permission object tied to a specific task.
Users set the merchant, spending limit, and expiry for each allowance, and the agent receives a temporary credential for that approved purchase only. Permissions are merchant-locked, auto-expiring, and instantly revocable, with every transaction logged and a receipt available. Allowance connects to ChatGPT, Claude, and other MCP-compatible agents, and works through Alfie in iMessage and WhatsApp for shopping requests and approvals. The Allowance app is available on web, iPhone, and Android, where users chat with Alfie, approve purchases, manage permissions, and view receipts. One-Time Cards let a person generate a single-use card number from an existing credit card for their own online checkout or for an agent.
