XenServer

Server virtualization platform for running demanding workloads.

Visit XenServer

XenServer is a server virtualization platform built on the Xen hypervisor, which originated as a research project at the University of Cambridge in 1999. It provides compute, networking, and storage virtualization to run applications and operating systems in isolated virtual machines, supporting both paravirtualized and hardware-assisted (HVM) guests. The platform is designed to run demanding workloads with operational simplicity, control, and scalability, and is available for both Citrix DaaS and non-Citrix environments.

XenServer 9 introduces capabilities aimed at improving workload efficiency, strengthening platform security, and reducing operational friction. The platform supports live migration of running virtual machines between hosts, driver domains for isolating device I/O code, and strong isolation between virtual machines running on shared hardware. XenServer integrates with Citrix workloads and is available as an entitlement of the Citrix for Private Cloud, Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, and Citrix Platform License subscriptions.

XenServer is intended for enterprise datacenter and hosting use cases, including organizations running Citrix workloads. It is packaged as term-based licenses with maintenance included, licensed per CPU socket, and currently available only as an entitlement of a Citrix subscription. A Trial Edition is available for evaluation, and a Premium Edition is offered as the product edition.
