Gammu is a set of tools for working with mobile phones from many different vendors, providing command-line and library access to phone functionality. It addresses the need to interact with phones programmatically, including sending and receiving SMS messages at scale through the Gammu SMSD daemon service.
The suite includes the Gammu command-line utility, libGammu for C programs, python-gammu Python bindings, and the SMSD service for automated message handling. Wammu is a GUI program for managing contacts, todos, calendar entries, and messages on a phone. Releases are distributed through GitHub.
