TypeScript

A strongly typed programming language built on top of JavaScript

Visit TypeScript

TypeScript is a programming language that extends JavaScript with type syntax, reporting errors in the editor before code runs. It compiles to JavaScript, so output runs wherever JavaScript runs, including browsers, Node.js, Deno, and Bun. Projects can adopt it incrementally, applying types to existing JavaScript through JSDoc and `@ts-check` before moving to TypeScript files.

TypeScript uses type inference to provide editor tooling without extra code. It supports interfaces, type aliases, and union types for describing data shapes, along with editor features such as auto-complete and JSX. The language can be tried in the browser via the Playground or installed through npm. Documentation is available in the Handbook, and TypeScript 7.0 is the current release.
